Learning is an investment in yourself

creative-idea-knowledge-bulb-innovation-512Early on in my career, I wanted to learn everything. Audiological procedures like Auditory Brainstem Response (ABR), Electronystagmography (ENG), Electroneuronography (ENOG)—bring 'em on! I was fearless and wanted to be involved in everything. Later, I found it hard to keep up and limited my practice to the areas in which I excelled.

That served me well for a while, but after a few years I became bored. I was good at what I did, but I was not growing. Sure, I kept up with and implemented new advances in my area, but it was simply expanding on my current knowledge, not delving into new topics. Now was time to learn a new skill, but that was scary! I was used to being the expert, not someone who was stumbling and unsure.

Lifelong learning is the pursuit of knowledge throughout our lives. By continuing to learn, we continue to grow as individuals. There are health benefits as well. Keeping our mind active helps with memory and slows cognitive decline. Using our mind also helps us sleep better. In essence, learning is an investment in yourself!

I want to encourage you to invest in yourself and learn something new. Now is the perfect time to expand our skills. Whether it is something personal, such as learning a craft like knitting or sewing or playing a new game, or something professional, such as learning how to administer telehealth or scan ears instead of taking traditional earmold impressions, you will be proud of your accomplishment. If you are interested in learning about ear scanning, don’t worry about stumbling. Your Lantos training team will be assisting you every step of the way, and your customers will be excited to experience new, cutting-edge technology.
